Santa Cruz

  • for both content and its double click to edit feature. Tom Lowenhaupt 01:48, 28 July 2010 (EDT)
  • One key issue from scruzwiki.org that has been on my mind for some time is of the need / value of a strategy on creating & building pages for other-than-neighborhoods - e.g. schools, libraries, parks, community districts, legislative districts, community gardens, landmarks, etc. - all of which would need to included sooner or later in NYCwiki. I do believe that we can be very open about content creation, and merely impose structure through categories, much as we see happening at Arborwiki below. That said, projects to bring entire categories up to snuff are a very worthy endeavor. Wwwhatsup 15:50, 26 July 2010 (EDT)

Ann Arbor

  • has nothing worth looking at, judging by the stats. My perusal showed little of interest. (comment by Tom Lowenhaupt)
  • I disagree, it's a very well put together and good-looking community wiki. A respectable 40k edits and 7m views. I love features like Category:Lunch under 5 dollars and Birthday Deals and the List of Ann Arbor bloggers and a very comprehensive Who's Who. One of the particular things to note on this wiki is its implementation of forms for data entry, for example Form:Public_figure. Wwwhatsup 17:33, 25 July 2010 (EDT)

Karlsruhe, Germany

  • First thing that struck me about this was the focus on visitors, 1) by providing a translated version, and 2) via the country portals, however minimal at present example. In fact they are kind of portal crazy, using 'portal' where we currently use 'directory'. The templates can make these portals look a litle bare, and the auto wikipedia link, if not fixed, can be a little ridiculous. On the other hand with a little fixing up it can be quite functional as a way of Wikipedia integration. example. Wwwhatsup 00:13, 28 July 2010 (EDT)
