Education
The New York Public Library operates the Harlem Branch Library at 9 West 124th Street,[1] the 115th Street Branch Library at 203 West 115th Street,[2] and the 125th Street Branch Library at 224 East 125th Street, near Third Avenue.[3]
Among the public schools for children are charter schools. In 2010, about one in five age-eligible children in Harlem are enrolled in charter schools.[4]
City College is located on 135th Street in Harlem.
The Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine, diagonally across 125th Street from the Apollo Theater, opened its doors in September 2007 in the former Blumstein's Department Store building.
